Great news, just in time for the start of the 2012 motor racing season, US manufacture VIO has just released its very affordable, full 1080p HD recording system comprising of a flexible, fully waterproof HD bullet camera and a separate fully configurable, ruggedised, solid state HD video recorder.

Using the latest powerful Texas Instruments Da-Vinci chipset and enhanced video processing software the quality of the full 1080p HD video recorded is truly outstanding, far superior to any footage obtained from any previous entry level HD action camera such as the Go Pro product using a roller shutter. It's what we have all been waiting for.

Recording onto a SD-HC memory card (max size of 32GB) the VIO POV HD offers a choice of HD recording resolutions and frame rates, either full 1080pHD@24/25/30fps (frames per second) or 720pHD@50/60fps, you can also record in standard definition 480p if required too. File format is either .mp4 or .mov

The wide angle bullet camera connects to the recorder via a standard length 1.5m connection cable using a robust connector with a locking ring.

Using the built in spot exposure control and white balance feature you can achieve the perfect balance between in car and exterior light conditions as a result you capture crisp, crystal clear images with vibrant colour saturation making it perfect for all saloon, GT and rally cars as well as open top/single seaters.

Both the camera and recorder are fully dustproof/waterproof complying to IP67 environmental standard which means they can be used on the outside of your car in the pouring rain or in the swimming pool up to a depth of 1m for 30minutes.

Excellent quality audio can be captured using either the built in directional microphone with a choice of level settings, noise filter and auto gain modes, it also has the line facility to connect to an external microphone or intercom.
Camera set up is made easy using the built in LCD viewing screen and because it is it a player as well as a recorder you can view your captured video's straight away.

Record activation can be triggered using the record on/off button on the recorder or via included wireless RF remote control, making it ideal and easy to trigger when you are strapped in your race/rally car ready to go.
12v power can be supplied through 4x internal batteries (Alkaline or Lithium) or you can make live easy and connect direct to the cars 12v power supply using the optional in car power supply kit, which has both a fused cigar lighter and unterminated power supply lead which connects to a replacement rear cover on the recorder, very neat.

Mounting your VIO POV HD camera in your race car

The complete VIO kit includes a number of goggle, ski helmet, shoulder strap mounts aimed at the action sport market but nothing specific to motorsport which is why we have manufactured a special Goldstar VIO CNC machined camera mount.

The Goldstar motorsport mount secured holds the VIO HD camera and ensures you get a great wobble free picture.

The mount is manufactured from anodised aluminium and a anti vibration nylon, both parts interlock together.

This mount is included "free of charge" with every Goldstar VIO HD motorsport kit, the clamps comes in our standard range of FIA roll bar sizes.
