Fire Extinguisher Systems
Willans have enhanced their range of safety products with the recent launch of a range of aluminium and steel fire extinguishers which use the same discharge technology “Advanced Compression Discharge System” (ACDS) as the systems currently used in F1.
ACDS maintains the discharge pressure at a higher level giving better atomisation and foam formation, in addition it also ensures the system can operate in any orientation.
Intensive research and development has led to the formulation and use of FOAMEX™, a alcohol resistant AFFF foam which is non-ozone depleting, non-toxic and non-corrosive.
Both the mechanical and electronic plumbed systems use Willans smaller diameter FXT™ tubing and nozzles. FXT™ tubing is a solid wall aluminium tubing with a thin protective plastic coating which is much more resistant to fire and crushing than tubing used by other manufactures.
The electrically fired systems feature motorsports first patent pending microprocessor firing box which alerts the driver when the system is armed via a tell tale dashboard LED which also alerts the driver when the system requires servicing.
