  • Historic Rallying Success for Nick Elliott and Dave Price in 2012

October saw the final round of the British Historic Rally Championship 2012, the Colin McRae Forest Stages Historic Rally. Their win Overall on this event sees Nick Elliott and Dave Price in their Historic specification Ford Escort Mk2, seal second place in the 2012 Championship, and also secure the BHRC Waterend Properties Gravel Cup.

The Championship, for Historic Rally Cars across three age categories, from 1967 to 1981, is fought over eight events throughout the year, and produces close competition and a large and loyal following amongst spectators and its supporters, as the great days of rallying are recreated in these classic rallying machines.

With the best six scores to count, Nick and Dave’s unbeatable five from five overall wins on the gravel rounds, combined with a very creditable second overall on their first outing over the notorious tarmac stages of the Eypnt military ranges, made it an excellent year.

The car is a faithful replica of a Mk2 Ford Escort, running as it would have been used in period by the Ford Works team, with a 250bhp two-litre BDG engine providing the power. Strict regulations ensure that all cars can only use parts that were used in period, so no one gains an advantage and the championship is all about the spectacle and the driving.

The action on the stages has been captured this year using In car equipment supplied by Goldstar Onboard, with footage broadcast on the MotorsTV Rally reports from each round as well as YouTube uploads. Nick and Dave have been extremely pleased with camera equipment and cite this as a major factor in increasing their exposure this year amongst their loyal followers, sponsors, and a new wider audience.
